Bacteriostatic Water: What It Is and Isn't

Bacteriostatic water is sterile water containing a small amount (typically 0.9%) of benzyl alcohol as a preservative.
The preservative allows a multi-dose vial to remain relatively stable across repeated draws over a limited window.
It is not the same as sterile water for injection, which contains no preservative.
Common mistakes
Using regular sterile water
Sterile water has no preservative, so multi-dose vials degrade fast.
Storing at room temp
Refrigerate BAC water after opening; use within 28 days.
